Role Purpose
The purpose of an Unloader is to unload merchandise from delivery vehicles and store them in the appropriate areas of a warehouse or retail store. This job role requires the use of manual labor, as well as the operation of hand trucks, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment. Unloaders must carefully and safely unload, inspect, organize, and store merchandise in a timely manner, while adhering to all safety guidelines. Additionally, they may be responsible for organizing and maintaining the warehouse or store's backroom, and keeping inventory records up to date.
Unloader Summary
The Unloader is responsible for unloading and loading cargo from trucks and containers in a safe and efficient manner. The Unloader must be able to read and understand shipping documents, operate material handling equipment, and use proper lifting techniques. They must also be able to inspect incoming and outgoing cargo for damage, and report any issues to their supervisor. The Unloader must maintain a clean and efficient work area, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
