The purpose of a Housing Specialist is to provide assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing difficulties with their housing situation. This may include helping individuals to find and secure affordable housing, providing assistance to families in financial distress, and helping individuals and families to access services that will help them to remain stably housed. Additionally, Housing Specialists may be responsible for providing education and outreach to the community on the available housing resources and services, as well as advocating for more resources and assistance to help keep individuals and families housed.
Housing Specialist Summary
The Housing Specialist is responsible for managing housing resources for a given organization or community. This position involves providing advice and assistance to clients, assessing housing needs and eligibility, and helping clients access and utilize available housing programs. The Housing Specialist must be knowledgeable of local, state, and federal housing laws and regulations, and must be able to work cooperatively with other agencies and stakeholders. The Housing Specialist is also responsible for conducting outreach activities, organizing and providing housing trainings, and developing and implementing housing plans. The ability to effectively communicate with clients and other stakeholders is essential in this role.
