A Geologist is a scientist who studies the Earth's physical structure and history, including rocks, minerals, fossils and landforms. Role Purpose
The purpose of a Geologist is to study the composition, structure, and other physical characteristics of the Earth and its rocks and minerals in order to understand the history, evolution, and structure of the Earth. They use this information to locate and develop sources of mineral resources, evaluate potential environmental hazards, solve engineering and environmental problems, map geological structures, and predict future geologic events. Geologists also work with engineers to develop techniques for exploring, extracting, and managing resources.
