Role Purpose
The purpose of a Boom Operator is to operate a boom microphone, which is a long, arm-like microphone suspended on a pole, to pick up sound during a film or television production. The Boom Operator is responsible for manipulating the microphone to ensure that clear, crisp audio is picked up during the production. The Boom Operator also works with the Production Sound Mixer to ensure that the sound quality is optimal for the production.
Boom Operator Summary
Boom Operator: Responsible for operating a boom microphone and boom pole to record sound on film, television, or video production sets. Must work closely with the production team to ensure sound quality and accuracy. Must be able to adjust sound levels and monitor sound to ensure quality. Must be able to troubleshoot any audio issues that may arise. Must be willing to travel to various production locations and work long hours when needed.
Boom Operator Duties
