Role Purpose
The purpose of an Infection Control Nurse is to provide comprehensive nursing care to prevent and control the spread of infection through the implementation of infection control practices, policies, and procedures. This includes assessing the risk of infection, developing and implementing infection control plans, monitoring and evaluating infection control practices, and educating healthcare staff and patients on proper infection control techniques. The Infection Control Nurse also serves as a consultant to other healthcare staff and facilities on infection control issues.
Infection Control Nurse Summary
The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for promoting infection prevention and control activities to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The Infection Control Nurse will assess and monitor the healthcare facility’s infection control program and evaluate staff compliance with established policies and procedures.
