About the Sound Engineering Technician role
Sound Engineering Technicians operate and maintain audio equipment and systems to record, amplify, mix, and reproduce sound for live events, films, television shows, and other media. They set up, adjust, and operate sound boards, audio mixers, and other equipment to produce desired sounds, and perform maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot any issues. They also select, place, and adjust microphones to capture sound, and analyze and adjust audio signals.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Sound Engineering Technician is to set up, operate, and maintain the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix, and reproduce sound. This includes microphones, sound speakers, digital audio workstations, sound and mixing boards, electronic sound effects, and other related equipment. The technician is also responsible for making sure that all of the audio equipment is properly set up and adjusted to ensure the highest quality sound is produced. They must also troubleshoot any issues with the equipment and make any necessary repairs. Additionally, they may also be required to provide technical assistance to other sound engineers and production staff.
