The purpose of a Tower Technician is to install, maintain, and repair transmission towers, antennas, and related equipment for telecommunication, broadcast, and related industries. This includes installing and repairing transmission lines, cables, and other equipment that support the towers, as well as modifying existing equipment to meet changing customer requirements. Tower Technicians must also be knowledgeable in the safety regulations and practices of their industry, and must take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of all personnel working in their area.

Tower Technician Summary

Tower Technician The Tower Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications towers and related structures. The Technician must possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills, as well as a thorough understanding of engineering principles and safety protocols. The Technician will inspect towers, install and maintain antennas and transmission lines, and troubleshoot issues that arise. They will be responsible for assembling and mounting hardware, installing grounding systems, and conducting tests to ensure proper signal strength. The Technician must be able to identify and repair any damage they find, as well as read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. The Technician must have a valid driver's license, be able to climb towers, and have knowledge of basic electrical principles. A background in electrical engineering, radio frequency (RF) theory, and tower climbing experience is preferred.
