Role Purpose

The purpose of an Activity Assistant is to assist in the planning, organization, and execution of recreational activities for individuals and groups. This may include creating activity plans, leading activities, and providing supervision of participants. Activity Assistants also provide support to staff in the planning and management of programs, and serve as a resource for participants and their families. They may also be responsible for maintaining records, developing reports, and tracking progress.

Activity Assistant Summary

The Activity Assistant is responsible for assisting with planning, coordinating and leading activity programs for residents of a long-term care facility. The Activity Assistant will act as a liaison between the facility and the resident’s families, as well as collaborate with other staff to ensure a smooth running program. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work with diverse populations. The Activity Assistant will plan and lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, music therapy, arts and crafts, physical activities, and special events. The Activity Assistant will also be responsible for evaluating resident participation in activities, modifying activities as needed, and documenting resident progress. Additionally, the Activity Assistant will be responsible for managing activity supplies and equipment, as well as creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for residents. The Activity Assistant may also be responsible for creating resident assessments, as well as interacting with resident families.
