About the Activity Aide role
Activity Aide is a job responsible for providing support to individuals, such as the elderly, disabled, and mentally or physically challenged, through recreational and leisure activities. The aide assists with planning, organizing, and supervising activities, such as games, arts and crafts, music, dance, and fitness classes. The Activity Aide also helps monitor the safety and well-being of participants.
Role Purpose
The purpose of an Activity Aide is to assist individuals to participate in activities, both recreational and educational, in order to improve their quality of life. Activity Aides provide physical, emotional and mental support to individuals in order to increase their involvement in activities that promote their physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth. They are responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating programs and activities that meet the individual’s needs. Activity Aides must be able to work with individuals of various ages and abilities, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Activity Aide Summary
The Activity Aide is responsible for providing meaningful recreational activities for residents in a long-term care facility or assisted living facility. This position requires a compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient individual who is able to work with people of all ages and abilities. The Activity Aide must plan, implement, and evaluate activities that meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the residents. The Activity Aide must also be able to use sound judgment and be able to handle a variety of situations with discretion. The Activity Aide must be a team player and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Activity Aide Duties
- Assist with physical activities and recreational activities for elderly and disabled individuals
- Lead activities such as arts and crafts, music, games and field trips
