About the Surgical Technician role
A Surgical Technician is a healthcare professional who works alongside surgeons, nurses, and other personnel during surgical procedures. They prepare and set up operating rooms, arrange instruments, sterile solutions, and supplies, and pass instruments to the surgeon during the procedure. They also monitor patients' vital signs and assist the surgeon in closing incisions.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Surgical Technician is to assist in surgical operations, under the supervision of a surgeon, registered nurse, or other surgical personnel. This role requires a high degree of knowledge, skill, and expertise in the field of surgery and the use of specialized instruments and equipment. Duties include preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, setting up instruments and equipment, passing instruments to surgeons during operations, and providing assistance to anesthesiologists, nurses, and other members of the operating team. Surgical Technicians must be familiar with the latest technological advances in surgical equipment and their proper use. They must also adhere to all safety regulations pertaining to the operating room.
Surgical Technician Summary
Surgical Technicians are responsible for providing assistance to Surgeons, Registered Nurses and other medical personnel during surgical procedures.
