About the Restorative Aide role
Restorative aides help individuals with physical disabilities to recover or maintain their physical abilities. They assist patients with activities of daily living, such as walking, transfers, stretching and range of motion exercises, and other therapeutic activities. Restorative aides also provide emotional support and guidance.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Restorative Aide is to provide assistance in the implementation of restorative care plans to improve patient outcomes. This includes helping patients perform exercises and activities that promote and maintain their physical health, as well as providing emotional and social support. The Restorative Aide also educates patients and their families about the importance of a restorative care plan, and assists in the development of such plans.
Restorative Aide Summary
The Restorative Aide is responsible for providing a supportive, therapeutic environment that meets the physical, emotional and social needs of patients in a healthcare facility. The Restorative Aide will help patients to improve or maintain their physical or cognitive functioning through the use of restorative and rehabilitative techniques. This includes rehabilitative exercises, ambulation, transfers, self-care activities, adaptive equipment, and therapeutic activities. The Restorative Aide will also provide assistance to the nursing staff with patient assessments, treatments, and patient education. The Restorative Aide will also be responsible for helping to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
