About the Prosthetist role

A Prosthetist is a healthcare professional who designs and fits prostheses, or artificial body parts, for patients who have lost a limb or part of a limb due to trauma, illness, or congenital abnormality. They may also provide advice and support to the patient and their family to ensure the prosthesis is comfortable and functioning correctly.

Role Purpose

The purpose of a Prosthetist is to design, fabricate, and fit artificial limbs and other prosthetic or orthotic devices to restore physical function or replace body parts lost due to injury, illness, or congenital defect. They also provide education and counseling to patients and families on the use of the devices and the care and maintenance of the devices.
