About the Orthopedic Technician role
An Orthopedic Technician provides patient care and assistance to orthopedic surgeons, including preparing equipment and instruments prior to surgery, assisting with patient positioning during surgery, and providing post-operative care. They may also work with patients to educate them on the use of assistive devices, such as walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches.
Role Purpose
The purpose of an Orthopedic Technician is to assist physicians with patient care and management related to the musculoskeletal system. They help with the evaluation and treatment of patients who have musculoskeletal problems, such as fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and other injuries. Orthopedic Technicians also prepare and maintain patient records, provide patient education and support, assist in emergency procedures, and participate in patient rehabilitation programs. They may also assist in the planning and implementation of medical equipment and supplies, and help to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Orthopedic Technician Duties
- Assemble orthopedic braces and other orthopedic equipment
- Assist in the fitting and adjustment of orthopedic braces and other orthopedic equipment
