Role Purpose
The purpose of a lactation consultant is to provide professional guidance and support to breastfeeding mothers, from prenatal preparation through postpartum adjustments. The lactation consultant assesses breastfeeding techniques, provides education and counseling on breastfeeding, and develops individualized plans for mothers. They also evaluate and troubleshoot any breastfeeding difficulties, suggest strategies for optimal breast milk production, and refer mothers to additional resources if necessary.
Lactation Consultant Summary
A Lactation Consultant provides specialized care to breastfeeding mothers and babies. They assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans to ensure the health and well-being of the mother and baby. Lactation Consultant Duties
