About the Family Physician role
A family physician is a medical doctor who provides comprehensive care for people of all ages, from newborns to seniors. They diagnose and treat a wide variety of illnesses, injuries and diseases, provide preventive care, and develop long-term relationships with their patients.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a family physician is to provide comprehensive medical care and preventive health services to individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds. This includes diagnosing and treating medical conditions, providing preventive care and screenings, managing chronic health issues, and referring patients to specialists when needed. Family physicians also may provide mental health services, such as counseling and psychotherapy.
Family Physician Summary
The Family Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients of all ages. This includes diagnosing and treating illnesses and injuries, ordering and interpreting lab tests, prescribing medications, and providing preventative care. The Family Physician must also be able to communicate effectively with patients and their families and explain treatments and health care decisions. They must also be able to work collaboratively with other health care providers in order to provide the best possible care for their patients.
