About the Certified Anesthesia Technician role
A Certified Anesthesia Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and supplies used in the administration of anesthesia. They assist anesthesia providers with patient preparation, monitoring, and post-operative care. They ensure a safe and effective operating room environment and are certified by either the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) is to provide support to the Anesthesiologist or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in preparing and managing the anesthesia environment and supplies. The Cer.A.T. is responsible for the maintenance, preparation, and operation of the anesthetic equipment, as well as the monitoring of the patient's vital signs during the anesthesia process. The Cer.A.T. also assists with providing patient care, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and recovery room care.
