About the Behavioral Health Technician role
A Behavioral Health Technician is a healthcare professional who provides support to people with mental health issues, substance abuse problems, and other behavioral health needs. They may provide therapeutic interventions, observe patients, provide education and support to family members, and help with day-to-day activities.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Behavioral Health Technician is to provide support and assistance to individuals who are struggling with mental health, substance abuse, and/or behavioral health issues. The technician will work with clients and their families to develop and implement treatment plans, provide direct care, and monitor progress. The technician will also use evidence-based treatments to teach coping skills, facilitate group therapy, and provide crisis intervention. Additionally, the technician will support the client in the transition to other levels of care, such as rehabilitation and housing services, and refer them to other community resources as needed.
Behavioral Health Technician Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing direct care and support services to individuals with mental health and/or behavioral health issues. This person works closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, and social workers to create treatment plans and provide individualized care. The Behavioral Health Technician will assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of mental health and/or behavioral health services. This individual must have a strong understanding of the principles of mental health and behavior health, as well as be able to effectively communicate and interact with individuals with a variety of mental health diagnoses. The Behavioral Health Technician must be able to maintain professional boundaries, while demonstrating compassion and empathy.
Behavioral Health Technician Duties
- Provide therapeutic interventions and activities to clients in accordance with approved treatment plans
