About the Anesthesia Technician role
An Anesthesia Technician is a medical professional who assists anesthesiologists in administering anesthesia during medical procedures. They are responsible for preparing the operating room and ensuring that necessary equipment and supplies are present, as well as managing the anesthesia machines and monitoring the patient’s vital signs during the procedure.
Role Purpose
The purpose of an Anesthesia Technician is to assist Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Anesthesiologist Assistants with the preparation, setup, and maintenance of Anesthesia equipment and supplies before, during, and after Anesthesia procedures. An Anesthesia Technician is responsible for ensuring the safety of patients by verifying the accuracy and proper functioning of Anesthesia equipment as well as for monitoring patients during Anesthesia. An Anesthesia Technician also assists Anesthesiologists in the administration of Anesthesia medications and assists with setting up and monitoring patient vital signs.
