A Groundskeeper maintains the grounds of a property, such as a park, golf course, or private estate. This may include mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, and planting flowers to create and maintain a pleasant outdoor environment.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Groundskeeper is to maintain the grounds of a property, including the lawn, garden, and exterior of the building. This may include mowing, trimming, and watering lawns, planting and tending to flower beds, and removing debris from walkways and drives. Groundskeepers may also be responsible for pest control and snow removal.
Groundskeeper Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the grounds of a property, including lawns, gardens, and other areas of landscaping. This includes mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, mulching, planting, and watering. Other duties may include general cleaning and maintenance of grounds and equipment, fertilizing, snow and ice removal, and maintenance of irrigation systems. The Groundskeeper must be knowledgeable of plant and lawn care, and possess the physical ability to perform all duties.
Groundskeeper Duties
- Maintain lawns, gardens, and grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment
- Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edgers
- Trim and shape shrubs and pull weeds
- Rake, mulch and compost leaves
- Prune and spray trees and shrubs, and apply fertilizers

- Operate and maintain landscape equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws
