About the Low Voltage Technician role
A Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage electrical systems such as security systems, fire alarms, and other security equipment. They must be knowledgeable of codes and regulations to ensure safe and effective installations. They may also be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing existing systems.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Low Voltage Technician is to install, maintain, and repair low voltage systems for residential and commercial customers. These systems can include home theatre systems, structured wiring, security systems, fire alarm systems, access control systems, and CCTV systems. Low Voltage Technicians are responsible for interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals; troubleshooting and diagnosing low voltage systems; and installing, configuring, and testing low voltage systems. They must also ensure that the systems meet local, state, and federal regulations. Low Voltage Technicians must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, as they often interact with customers on a daily basis.
Low Voltage Technician Summary
The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage systems, including telephone systems, CCTV systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, and other related equipment. The technician must be knowledgeable in all aspects of low voltage systems and be able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. The technician must also be able to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics in order to properly diagnose and repair any system. This position requires excellent customer service skills, as the technician will be interacting with customers on a daily basis. The technician must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.
