About the Electrical Drafter role
An electrical drafter creates technical drawings and schematics used in the design and construction of electrical systems. They use specialized computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce diagrams that show the location of wiring, components, and other elements of electrical systems.

The purpose of an Electrical Drafter is to create technical drawings and plans for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. This may include the layout of buildings, components, and systems, as well as the diagrams and diagrams that document the various components of the electrical system. Electrical Drafters must be knowledgeable in a variety of electrical engineering principles, standards, and practices. They also must be able to interpret and understand electrical diagrams and schematics in order to create accurate drawings.

Electrical Drafter Duties
- Create wiring diagrams and electrical drawings for residential, commercial and industrial buildings
- Develop plans and design layouts for electrical systems
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal codes
- Research and evaluate electrical systems, components, and applications
- Prepare electrical detail drawings for construction and installation
- Assist in the installation of electrical systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Electrical Drafter Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Knowledge of electrical schematics
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
