Role Purpose

The purpose of a Special Education Paraprofessional is to provide assistance to teachers, administrators, and other school staff in the implementation of special education programs, services, and activities for students with disabilities. The paraprofessional may work with individual students, small groups, and/or the entire class. They may provide direct instruction, modify curriculum, provide guidance and support to other staff members, and assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Additionally, a Special Education Paraprofessional may provide clerical, instructional, and other support to ensure the successful implementation of special education programs and services.
