About the Building Engineer role
Building Engineer is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical/electrical systems in commercial or industrial buildings. Duties include inspecting and testing building systems, diagnosing mechanical problems, performing preventive maintenance and repairs, and maintaining records and documentation.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Building Engineer is to maintain the physical integrity of buildings and other structures. This includes inspecting and repairing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, as well as performing preventative maintenance tasks. Building Engineers also troubleshoot and diagnose problems, identify and implement solutions, and inform management of any issues or necessary repairs. They also inspect buildings regularly to ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
Building Engineer Summary
The Building Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components. This role requires knowledge of building codes; the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems; and experience in working with contractors and vendors. The Building Engineer must ensure the safety of tenants and staff, comply with all applicable laws and regulations, and proactively maintain all building components.
