About the Development Associate role

The Development Associate is responsible for assisting with all aspects of fundraising and donor relations. This includes researching potential donors, managing gift processing, maintaining and updating donor databases, tracking donations, and assisting with campaigns, events, and activities. The Development Associate must be organized, have excellent communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Role Purpose

The purpose of a Development Associate is to provide administrative, operational, and programmatic support for the organization’s fundraising and development efforts. The Development Associate will collaborate with the Development team to identify and pursue sources of revenue, maintain relationships with existing donors, and coordinate special events. The Development Associate will also work closely with other departments to ensure the successful completion of projects and activities. Additionally, the Development Associate will be responsible for maintaining accurate donor records, providing analysis and reports, and creating communications related to donor activities. The ultimate goal of the Development Associate is to help the organization to secure and increase funding to support its mission.

Development Associate Summary

The Development Associate will be responsible for providing support for fundraising activities and helping to implement fundraising strategies. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, knowledge of the nonprofit sector and fundraising techniques, and be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders. The primary responsibilities of this position are to research and identify potential grant opportunities; develop and submit grant applications; research and cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, and other grant-making organizations; process donations; track grant payments; and provide administrative support to the development team. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and be comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and some experience working in fundraising and grant writing. The Development Associate will report directly to the Executive Director and will work closely with other staff members to ensure that fundraising goals are met. This is a full-time position located in our main office in Atlanta, Georgia.
