They also service and maintain engines, propellers, and other components to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. Additionally, boat mechanics may perform preventative maintenance to minimize the risk of breakdowns and to maximize engine performance.

A Boat Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining boats and other watercraft. This position requires excellent technical and mechanical skills, as well as knowledge of marine engines and systems. Boat Mechanics must have the ability to perform complex repairs and maintenance tasks in a timely and efficient manner. They must be detail-oriented and have excellent customer service skills. The Boat Mechanic must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Boat Mechanic Duties
- Inspect, diagnose and repair outboard motors, inboard motors and sterndrive systems
- Perform maintenance and repairs on hulls, propellers, steering systems, electrical systems, fuel systems and outdrives
