About the Athletic Scout role
Athletic scouts are professionals who evaluate athletes' skills and potential in order to determine whether they can compete at higher levels of sport. They assess players' physical characteristics, abilities, and mental aptitude to determine if they are suitable for selection to teams or other competitive opportunities.
Role Purpose
The purpose of an Athletic Scout is to identify and evaluate athletes for possible recruitment by a college, university, or professional sports team. The scout will attend sporting events, watch film, and conduct interviews with players and coaches in order to assess an athlete's physical, mental, and emotional skills, and determine if they would be a valuable asset to the organization. The scout will also provide feedback to coaches and administrators on the talent level of athletes in their area and make recommendations on who should be considered for recruitment.
