About the Fire Chief role
The Fire Chief is responsible for leading a team of firefighting professionals in protecting lives and property from the danger of fire and emergency situations. They coordinate emergency response, develop and implement safety standards, and manage and maintain department personnel, equipment, and facilities.
The purpose of a Fire Chief is to lead and direct a fire department in the protection of life, property, and the environment from the effects of fires, medical emergencies, and other disasters or threats to public safety. This includes the development, implementation, and enforcement of fire and emergency services policies, procedures, standards, and programs. The Fire Chief is also responsible for ensuring the safety of fire department personnel, maintaining the department’s budget, and working with other emergency services providers.
