The purpose of a Directional Driller is to drill and install underground pipes, cables, and conduits for utility, construction, and oil and gas industries. They use specialized directional drilling equipment and techniques to accurately guide boreholes to predetermined depths and locations. Directional Drillers must be able to follow safety guidelines, read and interpret blueprints, and operate heavy machinery. They must also possess strong problem solving and communication skills.
Directional Driller Summary
A Directional Driller is responsible for operating heavy drilling machinery to bore horizontally and diagonally underground for laying pipelines or cables. They must be knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of equipment, as well as safety protocols. Directional Drillers must also be able to interpret survey results and use advanced navigation systems. Responsibilities include setting up the drill rig, operating the machinery, monitoring the drilling process, and adjusting pressure and speed as needed.
