About the Cellar Person role
The Cellar Person is responsible for maintaining and managing wine cellars, monitoring temperature and humidity levels, organizing and stocking inventory, and ensuring the quality of wines.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Cellar Person is to manage and maintain a wine cellar, ensuring that all bottles and casks are stored in a safe and sanitary environment. This includes cleaning and organizing the cellar, stocking shelves, organizing and cataloguing bottles, monitoring temperatures, and making sure proper storage and handling conditions are met. Cellar Persons also assist with restocking and replenishing inventory, and may even help with wine tastings and special events.

Cellar Person Job Summary
The Cellar Person is responsible for the production, packaging and maintenance of a winery's wines. This position involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments, and requires knowledge of winemaking process and cellar operations. The Cellar Person is responsible for maintaining the quality of the wines, as well as ensuring safe and efficient operations.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
• Operating and maintaining winemaking equipment, including tanks, pumps, pressers, pumps, and other related equipment
• Sanitizing, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment, barrels, tanks, and other cellar operations related items
• Monitoring and adjusting fermentation temperatures, sugars, and other elements
• Performing lab tests such as pH, TA, and Brix
• Blending wines according to recipes and specifications
• Filling and labeling bottles
• Assisting in bottling and packaging operations
• Moving and racking wine between tanks, barrels and other vessels
• Assisting in cellar maintenance
• Following safety protocols and procedures
Requirements:
• Experience in a winemaking or cellar operations environment is preferred
• Knowledge of winemaking process and cellar operations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
