About the Clinical Nurse Educator role
A Clinical Nurse Educator works to promote and maintain patient safety and quality of care by providing education and training for nurses, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals. They create and develop educational materials, assess educational needs of staff, and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs. They may also provide counseling, support and guidance to nurses and other healthcare personnel.
Role Purpose
The purpose of a Clinical Nurse Educator is to provide educational and clinical support to nurses, patients, and their families. They are responsible for developing and delivering educational programs that promote and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nurses at all levels. They provide guidance and support to nurses through teaching, mentoring, and consulting, and help them understand and improve their practice. Clinical Nurse Educators also evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing care, and facilitate the development of evidence-based practice guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Clinical Nurse Educator Summary
The Clinical Nurse Educator provides educational and professional development support to nursing staff and other healthcare personnel in order to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to patients. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs, evaluating the effectiveness of these programs, and providing guidance and assistance to staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator is also responsible for maintaining current knowledge of healthcare trends and regulations, participating in committees and task forces as needed, and providing feedback and recommendations to improve patient care. The Clinical Nurse Educator must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, other departments, and external partners in order to achieve the desired outcomes.
Clinical Nurse Educator Duties
- Develop, coordinate and deliver educational programs for nursing staff
- Design, develop, and implement continuing education programs for clinical staff
- Provide support and guidance in the implementation of evidence-based practice
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of nursing staff education needs
