About the Building Inspector role
Building Inspectors are responsible for ensuring that construction projects adhere to local, state, and federal building codes and safety regulations. They inspect work sites during different stages of construction and evaluate the safety and structural soundness of existing buildings. Building Inspectors examine plans, inspect foundations and structural components, and ensure that construction meets applicable standards. They document their findings and ensure proper permits are in place.

The purpose of a Building Inspector is to ensure that construction projects and existing buildings comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards. They inspect the design and construction of buildings to ensure that all materials, workmanship, and systems meet established standards of safety and quality. They typically inspect all aspects of a construction project, from the foundation to the roof, and provide feedback to contractors and building owners. Building Inspectors also review plans, evaluate and monitor progress, and issue permits and certificates of occupancy.
