Role Purpose
The purpose of an Accompanist is to provide musical support to a singer, instrumentalist, or ensemble. They create a supportive environment for the performer by playing the appropriate accompaniment in a variety of styles, tempos, and keys. An Accompanist should be knowledgeable of many musical styles and be able to read music fluently. They must also be flexible in their playing and be able to adjust to the needs of the performer.
Accompanist Summary
The Accompanist is responsible for providing musical accompaniment in a variety of settings. This may include accompanying musical performances, rehearsals, lessons, or other events. The Accompanist must have an excellent knowledge of music theory, a good ear and sight-reading skills. The Accompanist must be able to work closely with a vocalist or instrumentalist while providing appropriate accompaniment in a variety of styles. The Accompanist must also be able to coordinate with other musicians, as needed.
Accompanist Duties
